Here in Marathon you will find the locals are friendly and laidback and like to share their island vibe with friends and visitors alike. Take a seat on a deck or at the tiki bar and enjoy the tropical breezes off the water and unparalleled views of the sunset, or at a marina and watch local fishermen come in with the day’s catch, or grab a lounger by a pool and just enjoy the music. And for the night owls, head to one of the local joints to hang out and join in some late night rockin’.

Brass Monkey Lounge
234 55th Street Ocean (MM50) in Kmart Plaza
A great locals’ joint with happy hours Monday-Friday at lunchtime, 11AM-2PM, and again from 4PM-8PM. It is a great late night rock and pool joint, starting after 11PM every night, featuring live classical rock ‘n roll from the 60’s to the 80. See Freddie Bye & his band every Friday and Saturday, Freddie goes solo on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and Rich, their drummer, plays on Tuesday night.

Burdines Waterfront Chiki Tiki Bar & Grill
1200 Oceanview Avenue (end of 15th Street)
Located Oceanside in Boot Key Harbor, this hard to find “keysy” bar (yes, that’s right, the one behind the trailer park), is the place to be at night with a daily happy hour and live music on Friday nights from 6PM-9PM. Sit out on the covered upper deck that overlooks the water and mangroves and enjoy a beer or wine (that is all they serve) as you relax in true island fashion.  

Dockside Tropical Cafe
35 Sombrero Blvd in Sombrero Marina/Boot Key Harbor (turn on 15th Street)
Recently remodeled and with new owners, Dockside is again open for business.  Featuring a keys-style pub atmosphere with live music nightly and a happy hour from 11AM-6PM you will see an interesting mix of people here from locals to snowbirds who come to sit outside and enjoy the water view and the atmosphere.  

Fat Buoyz Bar & Grill
1090 Overseas Hwy (MM47.5)
This local biker-bar whose motto is “All-American fare on an All-American Road” has recently expanded their ground level dining space to include a stage and dance floor, all the better to hear their nightly live entertainment. Order a cold one while enjoying the view over the water.  And if you are there on Monday for Bike Night you will catch Tommy Santelli perform from 6PM-9PM.

Hurricane Grill & Raw Bar
4650 Overseas Highway (MM49.5)
A party place in Marathon for over 50 years, this grill and raw bar is the perfect place to have some fun and enjoy a little local entertainment. Happy hour runs daily from 11AM-6PM and later in the evening the place gets hoppin’ with live music and a fun crowd. You’ll be up and dancing in no time. 

Island Fish Co. Tiki Bar
12648 Overseas Highway (MM54)
Sit back and relax at the longest tiki bar in the Florida Keys and enjoy some great happy hour specials from 3PM-5PM daily.  You’ll love the open-air bar, the friendly people and the amazing view of Florida Bay. And don’t leave before you catch one of the spectacular sunsets that the Florida Keys are known for. 

JJ's Dog House Lounge
10700 Overseas Hwy (MM52.5)
A friendly & casual bar to have a drink and hang out. There is live entertainment most nights starting at 9PM as well as pool tables and darts. And this is one of the only bars that is open til the wee hours. Operating hours are 7AM-4AM. 

Lazy Days
725 11th St (MM47.3)
Take a seat on the deck and enjoy a great view and the warm breezes off the water or take a seat at the bar and take advantage of their happy hour specials from 4PM-6PM with 3 for $1 appetizers. (bar only)

Porky's BBQ Bayside
1400 Overseas highway (MM47.5)
Located in Captain Pip’s Marina, this small waterfront restaurant, decorated in license plates and marine floats, has a definite island vibe with live entertainment nightly from 6:30PM-9:30PM as well as a happy hour from 3PM-6PM with  1/2 priced drinks and $5 happtizers. Come join the fun that other notables have enjoyed such as Ernest Hemingway, Jimmy Hoffa and Elizabeth Taylor.

Sparky’s Landing
400 Sadowski Causeway (MM53.5), Key Colony Beach
Stop by this waterfront restaurant for the daily happy hour from 4PM-6PM featuring $.25 wings and shrimp and enjoy live music Wednesday-Saturday evenings.  It has a lovely view of the harbor and you can watch the boats as they come into the marina at the end of the day.

Sunset Grille & Raw Bar
7 Knights key Blvd (MM47)
Located at the foot of the 7-Mile Bridge is an open-air restaurant and tiki bar complete with a pool and an unrestricted view of the Keys waters. Sit by one of the two bars or out by the pool and order up your favorite brew. If you come between 3PM-6PM, any day of the week, you can enjoy some great happy hour specials.  Enjoy a splash in the pool as you wait or relax and let the ocean breezes and beautiful views melt all your cares away. Then settle down and watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the nightly live entertainment.  There is also live music on Sundays between 2PM-6PM so come on down, hangout in the pool and enjoy the best day of the weekend.
