Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

Spend a day at this 54 acre park and tour the Union fort named after U.S. President Zacahary Taylor and used as headquarters for the U.S. Navy's east coast blockade squadron during the Civil War (12PM & 2PM daily, free). Then relax & enjoy the beach, shaded with palms & pines, where the Atlantic and Gulf meet, fish (off the west rock jetty), swim, snorkel (right off the beach), or hike the wooded nature trails. Picnic tables and grills available as well. Even enjoy the sunset at evenings end.
