San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve

If you have your own boat or charter, take a trip 1-1/4 miles off Indian Key (24 degrees 51.802N, 80 degrees 40.795W) to see San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve. Tie off on one of their mooring buoys and dive or snorkel this underwater preserve that features a submerged shipwreck that was part of a Spanish flotilla that sank during the 1733 hurricane. The water here is about 18' deep and you can see what is left of the ship including a large pile of ballast stones as well as 7 replica cannons and an anchor.
