Best Beach Town in Florida – Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach and Pier 60Clearwater Beach sunset Clearwater Beach has long been a favorite of my family’s vacation spots. I have been visiting there since I was a little girl and staying in The Glass House, which unfortunately was knocked down in the name of progress, was the highlight of our summer. There was, and still is, a multitude of things to do from swimming in the warm surf, walking the powder soft white sand beach, catching a game of beach volleyball, visiting Pier 60 and enjoying their nightly craft fair, watching the beautiful sunset and even taking in a game of miniature golf.

Safety Harbor, FLTarpon Springs and Busch GardensThere are also plenty of nearby attractions to keep you busy, Safety Harbor’s quaint town and well-known Spa and their pier where manatees are often spotted, Tarpon Springs, a small Greek community famous for its sponge docks and arts and craft fairs and Busch Gardens, a fantastic amusement park with roller coasters, safaris and wild animals, are only a handful of interesting things to see and do during your stay.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens and Ringling MuseumAnd just a few hours drive from the beach you will find Sarasota Jungle Gardens, with wild bird shows, flamingos, petting area and nature trails and the spectacular Ringling Museum of Art, a gorgeous estate, once owned by John Ringling of circus fame, set on 20 acres of waterfront property.

I love Clearwater Beach and the surrounding area and was extremely happy to see that it was voted as the Best Beach Town in Florida by USA Today readers, a well deserved tribute. Visit Clearwater Beach and you will see why it is loved by so many.

Wow, The Glass House! My family stayed there in 1982 when we first moved to Florida, while searching for a new home. I was 12 years old. I grew up in Clearwater and was sad to see The Glass House torn down.
Small world. Found you on Pinterest while planning our vacation to Siesta Key. :-)
