Clearwater Beach has long been a favorite of my family’s vacation spots. I have been visiting there since I was a little girl and staying in The Glass House, which unfortunately was knocked down in the name of progress, was the highlight of our summer. There was, and still is, a multitude of things to do from swimming in the warm surf, walking the powder soft white sand beach, catching a game of beach volleyball, visiting Pier 60 and enjoying their nightly craft fair, watching the beautiful sunset and even taking in a game of miniature golf.
There are also plenty of nearby attractions to keep you busy, Safety Harbor’s quaint town and well-known Spa and their pier where manatees are often spotted, Tarpon Springs, a small Greek community famous for its sponge docks and arts and craft fairs and Busch Gardens, a fantastic amusement park with roller coasters, safaris and wild animals, are only a handful of interesting things to see and do during your stay.
And just a few hours drive from the beach you will find Sarasota Jungle Gardens, with wild bird shows, flamingos, petting area and nature trails and the spectacular Ringling Museum of Art, a gorgeous estate, once owned by John Ringling of circus fame, set on 20 acres of waterfront property.
I love Clearwater Beach and the surrounding area and was extremely happy to see that it was voted as the Best Beach Town in Florida by USA Today readers, a well deserved tribute. Visit Clearwater Beach and you will see why it is loved by so many.
