Blue Hole

The Blue Hole is a great place to stop and see on the way to Key West or while hiking through Key Deer territory. This large sink hole was once the rock quarry that Flagler used to fill his roads for the railroad. After being abandonned, it filled with fresh water and has the distinction of being the only fresh water lake in the keys. It has now become a natural habitat for all sorts of wildlife. Stand on the shady overlook and get up close and personal with alligators, snakes, turtles, green iguanas, birds and key deer.
